Dr Mark Hale

Partner - BMedSci(Hons) BM BS (Nottingham 1989)

I have been a partner at Lister House since Feb 1994. I enjoy the variety of conditions and patients that I come across on a day-to-day basis. My particular interest is in Muscular Skeletal Conditions. So taking care of joints, injecting them, where appropriate is something I specialise in. Away from work, I enjoy walking, cycling, cooking and travel.

Dr Andrew Brooks

I joined the practice in 1995, I am the practice Caldicott Guardian, lead on information governance, human resources, prescribing and complaints. I am a generalist but have particular interests in dermatology and hypertension. My interests outside of work are cycling and walking in the Derbyshire countryside.

Dr Sandy Khosla

Partner - MB ChB (Manchester 1993) MRCGP

I am a local GP born in Derby, trained in Manchester and have now worked in General Practice since 1997. I am a GP trainer and in the past have been involved in the commissioning of local services. I have an interest in sports medicine and musculoskeletal problems. I do joint injections ultrasound guided. I am also the academy doctor at Derby County FC. My hobbies include sports, exercise, films and eating out.

Dr Samina Yasmeen


I joined the practice in 2012. I have a special interests in Acute Medicine, gynaecology and family planning. I am the lead for learning disabilities and patient pathway for the practice. Outside the practice I enjoy spending time with my family and doing outdoor activities.

Dr Mahya Johnson

I joined the practice in 2012. I am a local GP Trainer leading on GP training and care homes for the practice. I am co-clinical director for Primary Care Network, PCCO. My clinical interests include care of the elderly, gynaecology and mental health. I am married with one son. I enjoy spending time outdoors going on walks and running.

Dr Sophie Harvey

I joined the practice in March 2018 and I became a Partner in April 2020. I am co-clinical director of the PCCO Primary Care Network. My clinical interests are musculoskeletal medicine, injections, dermatology and paediatrics. Outside of work, I enjoy many sports including cycling, running and crossfit.

Dr Iram Afshan

I joined the practice in August 2020 and I am one of the partners. I am the lead within the practice for mental health and promotion of patient wellbeing. I also have a background of training in obstetrics and gynaecology and still maintain an avid interest in this field. My leisure activities include going to the gym, trying new foods and reading.

I joined Lister House Surgery in 2017. I am the clinical lead for palliative care and the lead GP for the nursing team. Outside work I enjoy spending time with her children and being outdoors.

I was born and raised in Canada, completed my medical training in Toronto then moved to the Derby area in 2002 after finishing Family Medicine residency training. I enjoy the variety of general practice and am developing an interest in Lifestyle Medicine. In my spare time I enjoy reading, travelling, running and singing in Rock Choir.

I trained in London and have worked as a GP in Derby since 2006. Since 2016 I have developed an interest in Sports and Exercise medicine including completing an MSc in 2017. Alongside my GP work, I am lead team doctor for Coventry Rugby Club and club GP for Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

I am a salaried GP at the practice. I have grown up in Derby, completed my medical degree at St. Bartholomews in London and intercalated at UCL. I am a GP trainer. My main areas of interest are medical education and womens health. In my free time, I enjoy eating out, films, the gym and watching my son playing cricket.

I was born and grew up in Limerick City, Ireland, I trained as a registered nurse in London. Having married an Englishman soon after I qualified, we have lived in different parts of England, and we moved to Derby in 2003. Following my specialist degree at the University of Sheffield and post graduate studies at the Universities of Nottingham and Derby I have been working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in General Practice since 2003. I consider myself very blessed as I love my job, I love patient care and being part of the great Lister House Team since 2015. When not at work I enjoy filling my time with family often helping out with our young grandchildren, baking, cooking and lots of knitting of Aran jumpers and baby clothes, and travelling around the UK and Ireland and further abroad.

I am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner having completed my MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2010 after qualifying as a nurse in 1997 both from the University of Nottingham. Having worked in Emergency Medicine for nearly 20yrs I moved to Primary Care in 2017. I have an interest in physical health in patients with Learning Disabilities and am involved in a number of projects within the practice.

As a Physician Associate I have undertaken postgraduate training and I work under the supervision of a doctor. As part of my role I am trained to; take medical histories from patients, perform physical examinations, diagnose illnesses, see patients with long-term chronic conditions, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, analyse test results, develop management plans and provide health promotion and disease prevention advice for patients.

Since qualifying I have completed a postgraduate certificate in Clinic Pharmacy Practice with Keele University and I am currently undertaking the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway. I have an interest in preventative therapy and managing long-term conditions. My hobbies include exercise, cooking, reading and eating out.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2014. I have recently completed the CPPE Clinical pharmacist in general practice education pathway and non-medical Independent and Supplementary prescriber course. My main role is conducting structured medication reviews for long term conditions such as cardiovascular disease and hypertension. I have an interest in medicines and how they can be used to reduce risk in the long term management of cardiovascular disease. My hobbies include exercising, Formula 1 and eating out.

I joined the practice in 2019 and I am the lead pharmacist. I am a non-medical prescriber and my main role is leading the pharmacy team and conducting structured medication reviews. I am currently employed as the Nurse Manager and have 20+ years Nursing experience. My main areas of clinical interest include diabetes, minor Illness and triage and I am also an independent nurse prescriber. My time outside of work is mainly spent time with my growing number of grandchildren.

RGN 1987, Nurse Prescriber 2012, BSC in Nursing Studies 2014 I joined Lister House in 2003 and since then I have become a nurse prescriber and gained a degree. I specialise in the care of our patients with Type 2 diabetes. When not at work I enjoy gardening and making my own clothes.

I am an experienced practice nurse with 34 years nursing in total I specialise in respiratory conditions including diagnosing and managing these disease areas. I also have a wealth of knowledge in Contraception and sexual health and have many years of experience fitting contraceptive implants and Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices.

Nurse Reena

I trained at Wolverhampton University, and I am married with 2 children. I love music, going out to eat and dancing. I speak Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.

Nurse Sharon

I have been with the practice since 2005 and was previously in Children’s Accident and Emergency for 18 years. I am one of the Senior Practice Nurses with an interest in minor illness, diabetes, travel health and I am a nurse prescriber.

I have been a registered nurse since 2009 and joined the practice in 2014 as a practice nurse. The areas I specialise in are Asthma, COPD, Childhood immunisations and travel. Outside of the practice I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and going on long walks.

Nurse Vicki

RGN qualified 2001. Nurse prescriber 2014. I joined Lister House in 2017 as a Specialist Contraceptive and Sexual Health Nurse. I work 2 days per week and now lead the Womens Health for the surgery. In my spare time I enjoy time with my family and my new love is fitness and working out in the gym. I have found fitness to be a very important part of my wellbeing.

I qualified as a registered nurse in 1981 and became a Practice Nurse 20 years ago, spending the last 2 at Lister House Peartree. My main areas of practice are immunisations, travel, womens health and asthma. In my spare time I love being with family and friends, travelling, going to festivals gardening and DIY.

I am the lead Health Care Assistant with many years of varying experience. I have been at Lister House for over 5 years where my main areas are general treatment room duties however, I have a specialist interest in Learning Disability Reviews and Infection Control. My main activities outside of work include spending time with family and friends and I love a good book.

I am an experienced HCA, I have been with this practice for over 2 years. My main roles are treatments room duties and I have a specialist interest in our Carers project. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with the family.

HCA Jackie

I am part of the HCA and Infection control team at Lister House providing routine health checks, blood tests, removal of stitches, dressings, ear irrigation, bp measurements, spirometry, ECG's, vitamin B12 injections, flu, pneumonia and shingles injections. Whilst outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and cycling in Derbyshire.

I have 35 years experience working as a nurse having started as a cadet nurse at Pastures Hospital Mickleover in 1972. Over the years as evidence-based theory and research changed the way we view psychological problems I studied both Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Psychotherapy at the University of Derby. This has resulted in me having a vast knowledge base which enables me to assess a wide range of problems which may or may not have a mental health component. My main work at the surgery revolves around the treatment of depression and anxiety as these are the most common problems reported by people being referred to me. I will also assess problems related to, bereavement, work related stress, alcohol, relationship breakdown and anger. In fact, any problem that has an emotional or psychological impact on life. There is no restriction on age and if a problem arises that needs more specialist intervention I have a wide network of experienced contacts that I can refer on to.

I joined Chris Roome’s team in December but I'm now working at Oakwood on a Monday and Coleman Street on a Wednesday. I have worked with the mental health crisis team and continue to do some work with the criminal justice system. Outside of work I enjoy running and motorbikes.

The role of a care coordinator covers many aspects, including: • Home equipment – e.g. grab rails, wheelchairs, commodes, Zimmer frames, perching stools etc…. • Mobility issues • Housing issues • Care packages through Derbyshire Social Services for patients/Carers struggling to look after themselves. • Social isolation – luncheon clubs, support groups and activities to get you out and about more. • Referrals to – Drug and Alcohol support group/Community Physiotherapy or Occupational therapy at home (for housebound patients), Social Services, Voluntary Organisations, Support for Carers DCA (Derbyshire Carers Association) Benefits advice and many more • Falls support

I am a member of the community support team and am based at Lister House Surgery working Tuesday to Friday. I offer friendly advice and support on a wide range of issues – from mobility issues like getting the right equipment installed at home post discharge to referrals to other services or organisations, dementia support, home safety checks, Social Services/voluntary organisation too. Rajvinder is employed by Derbyshire Community Health Services and is your link between all the different services and organisations in the City of Derby.

I am a member of the community support team and I am based at your Practice on Tuesdays and Fridays. I offer friendly advice on a wide range of issues – everything from practical issues like getting the right equipment installed at home to referrals to other services, dementia support, home safety checks and help for carers. I am employed by Derbyshire Community Health Services and I am your link between all the different services and organisations. The overall aim is to keep people safe, happy and healthy in their own homes, for as long as possible and to avoid hospital admissions. Care coordinators also work closely with the Community Matron, who supports those living with multiple long term conditions. If you are a family member or carer and feel you need some extra help, support or information then I can help you too. I can be contacted through the surgery on 01332 700455.

Community Midwives

Patients are seen by the midwives at the clinics by appointment and also by the doctors during normal surgery hours.

Community Nurses

The team consists of sisters, staff nurses and health care aide nurses. Their duties include visiting patients of any age in their homes when necessary, giving practical assistance or offering professional advice. Each patient’s needs are assessed and their care/treatment is planned accordingly. (Peartree & Oakwood only)
